Newsletter - Semester 1

Message from the centre head

“No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.”

                                                                                                                                      Mr. Aesop

A quote from the famous storyteller of 6 th century, Aesop has an insight meaning as, ‘Nothing in this universe is ever lost without consequence- from the smallest particle to even the largest galaxies. Everything big or small, in some way has its effect.’ The spirit of our newsletter focuses on how we here at Joy School makes a difference, a difference for the better – as we should! I want our students, parents, staff, and visitors, to feel welcomed and they have always belonged on our campus. Fostering this kind of belonging and kindness will be acquired from hiring, training and retaining the perfect mix of people, who are extremely talented in the task they accomplish and are always committed in developing a positive school climate.
So, dear parent, I proudly present the 1 st Quarterly Newsletter for the session 2021-2022. This Newsletter showcases the activities encompassed in different dimensions of education for the 1 st Quarter.

Activity tour

1. Ice-Breaking session :

Icebreaking Session 18.jpeg

Summer holidays finished with hot wave off. Wow! They flew by! The first day of school jitters has to be calm downed. Ice-Breaking session is an activity event to welcome our students, warm up the conversation, training the class, and team building activity.

It was a wonderful session with lots of activities, few being puzzles, riddles, train, school tour, classes exploration, intro with a puppet, story narration through flash cards, poster making and picture drawing, etc.

2. Parent Orientation :

“A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school. The child is the center of our universe.” A student’s academic performance and all-round development is just not up to the school. The parent involvement in every step to keep a track of the progress what their ward is making over in the academics is needed. Our school’s ACADEMICS DIRECTOR, Mrs. SHALINI, spoke at length about the benefits of parent and teacher communication, she laid an emphasis on a strong connection with the school patrons. She has made the parents aware of the various teaching

strategies and methodologies that are being employed in JOY SCHOOL for the

improvement of the child. This can help the parents to implement the same

learning procedures at home as well, ensuring the student doesn’t lose continuity

in the process of learning.Tips about parenting has been discussed, the school

rules and regulations have been briefly explained, many issues discussed, few

doubts clarified, new hopes raised and the year started with full of vim and vigor.

Few teachers shared the overview of subjects, and the list of activities that are

going to be taken in the coming academic year. The orientation program proved the sincere efforts made by the school in educating the parents to guide their children in a proper way. A common teaching strategy has been evolved and it helped the parents in identifying suitable follow up methods to be followed to reinforce the learning of their children.

Only a dad, but he gives his all
To smooth the way for his children small,
Doing, with courage stern and grim,
The deeds that his father did for him.
This is the line that for him I pen,

Only a dad, but the best of men.
–Edgar Guest

watering the plants, and weeding activities were demonstrated and practiced by children. The beautiful flowering plants planted by the young souls made an amazing garden in our school ground. The gardening week ended with parent involvement “SEED BALL” activity. Seeds that are
healthy and ready to sprout has been mixed with compost and mud, and made like a ball. The ready to grow ball came with a slogan “THROW ME AND WATCH ME GROW” has been pplauded by parents. Hope all the seeds sprouted and were growing green day-by-day.

6. Coffee morning  session :

On 31 st August, all the students, teachers, parents and management gathered in the school premises for a short presentation by kids by covering the topics covered in their classrooms so far.
The parents get a preview to the teaching methods that are being applied in the class room, we empower them to assist their children at home in their studies without breaking the pattern of teaching method.

On this day, we saw pre-primary parents stepping into their child’s shoes and feeling what a joy it was to be a JOYian.

The parents got a live chance to watch their child how he is performing in the class room, assess and give their valuable feedback.
